My Biggest Management Problem

Currently, my biggest obstacle I'm facing is time management. This semester I have a hectic work and school schedule. For this reason, its a predicament for me to actually spend some quality time with both family and friends. I work from 8 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon, except for Mondays, I work 7 in the morning till 2 in the afternoon. I live kind of far so my day usually starts at 5:30 in the morning and ends at 10:30 at night, when i get home. This leaves me with very few time to catch up with my loved ones since I'm tired by the end of my day. Once I get home, I usually shower, sometimes grab dinner watch a little bit of t.v. then go to bed by midnight. My weekends are composed of catching up with homework, house errands, and catch up on sleep. Friday nights and Saturdays is really the only time I have for myself. I debate whether I should go out with my friends or if I should just stay home to sleep and relax. Hopefully, I learn how to manage my work and school schedule better soon, so I can redistribute my free time more efficiently.

  1. Time management is an adversity that everyone comes to face sooner and later, but I think that way you are handling it now seems like you have more of a grasp on things then most people actually do. But how you distribute your free time should not be a chore, and you should always mix it up. Just like the saying goes: "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," or something like that, you should definitely use your free to do things you enjoy and use time going to and from work to catch up on the "dull" things to make the ride seem shorter. But, again, you seem to be managing your time quite well as it is, and it doesn't look like you'll have to much trouble to get things on the right track.

  3. I have the same problem as you can see if you check out my blog post. I work three days a week, cram 15 credits into two days at school and train to run a marathon in my spare time. All along I try to balance these activities with a social life. Since you have long work and school days, it is tough to make a strict schedule but I feel that by making a schedule and following it, (even scheduling time to rest) will help better manage your time.

  4. Time management is definitely a problem most of us can relate to. but in your situation, it seems you simply don't HAVE enough time (and ironically, you commented on MY blog to take a "deep breath"). i honestly do not know how you do it, you must be really proud of yourself.

But perhaps you simply have too big of a load? (i noticed you are an 18 year old junior...so i take it that you've been at this for some years already) Maybe you could arrange to work less? Though i understand the need to go to school AND earn money, we are in college after all, and should be using these years to enjoy ourselves (while earning a good degree of course =p ).

Hope it works out, and thanks for your advice on my blog =)
